Is it a cult

The term "cult" is often used loosely to describe any group with strange beliefs. However, historically and sociologically, the Catholic Church is the opposite of a cult. It is the largest and oldest institution in the Western world, with 1.3 billion members from every culture and nation.

Catholics believe in the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and the authority of Scripture. We are the original Christians, tracing our lineage directly back to the Apostles. A cult typically isolates people; the Catholic Church is a global family open to all.
